Languedoc and Roussillon are two distinct provinces merged to create a region which stretches from the craggy foothills of the Pyrenees to the salt marshes of the Rhone delta.

Languedoc-Roussillon is characterised by rugged mountains and wild foothills, rough pasture and  vast vineyards, shady groves and interminable salt marshes. It is blessed with golden beaches and hillside hamlets, traditional fishing ports and modern resorts, major cities and mediaeval villages, hilltop abbeys and ancient monuments.
