The Pharmacy Museum, Montpellier.Image published under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 2.5 license The pharmacy museum is located in the salle Etienne Canals on the site of Montpellier's Universite 1 on the boulevard Henri IV. It was founded in 1972 by a local pharmacist, Albert Ciurana. It is generally regarded as the best French pharmacy museum located on a university campus. The museum contains thousands of exhibits and features a chemist's shop equipped and stocked in the style of the twenties. The museum is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 12 noon. Entry is free.

The collection, known as the Droguier de Montpellier, was founded in 1633 in order to store samples of the various drugs used in medical preparations. The collection now houses approximately fifteen thousand drugs and occupies an area of 250 square metres. Entry is free but visitors must obtain prior permission from the university authorities.
