Sete

Sete, the Venice of the Languedoc, is an industrial port at the foot of Mont Saint Clair.

The Royal Canal connects the salt lagoon, the Etang de Thau, to the sea and thus completes the inland waterway route from Bordeaux to the Mediterranean.

Sete, famous for its nautical jousting tournaments, is rougher and more authentic than its neighbouring resorts. Pastel-coloured houses line its network of canals and numerous dockside restaurants sell freshly caught mussels, oysters and snails.
